Meet the Wildashes

Matt and Paula Wildash are giving up their vacation time to drive around England in a rental van (named Snail 1) big enough to hold 6 people, 2 bike cases, luggage and enough Walker’s Crisps to start another potato famine.

Matt and his brother Nick lived next door to our grandparents growing up. Nick is roughly the same age as our eldest brother Simon and Matt is the same age as Daniel. For me, I had a stuffed panda named Kevin. My lack of a human, similarly aged counterpart living next door left me with the choice of Leia or Chewbacca when we were role-playing Star Wars. It also contributed our routine hide and seek games  - where everyone else would piss off home while I hid under a tree for 3 hours - crying. Ah, memories. That being said, I once fell into a mass of stinging nettles and Matt was very helpful and consoling. Daniel not so much.
We have known the Wildashes almost as long as we’ve known our own family and over the years they have become exactly that, family.

Matt met the lovely Paula and began building the biggest DVD collection you’ve ever seen while raising their two cats. We were honored to be at Matt and Paula’s wedding in Dana Point, California some years back and they in turn attended Daniel and Laura’s wedding in New Orleans.

Matt is currently a director for BBC Norwich. Most recently he was director and editor of the 2017 BBC documentary The Galaxy That Britain Built – Droids, Darth Vadar and Lightsabers, celebrating the British contribution to the original Star Wars.
Paula is Assistant HR Officer at Norwich University of the Arts. She spends her lunch breakshunting Go Go Hares around Norwich. Together they are Wildbeast Films. With Matt directing and writing, and Paula as Producer they have created the films Anomaly, Greg2, Soundproof and Rico’s Revenge, and Grip to name a few.

We are very thankful that they are joining us on this adventure and excited about seeing them soon. Luke, Han and a super hairy Leia together again!

  1. Matt and I actually met at school when we around 2-3 years old. We went to different first schools, but out of sheer luck, our grandparents moved from Norwich and bought a house next to Matt's family. The rest as they say is history.
